10 November 2010-Eng 10H

Today we started looking at memoir as a genre–graduate writing programs call it “creative non fiction”–and hopefully, the more we tried to fit it on a “line” the less anything seems to fit.

Then I read two examples of memoir.  One from Cynthia Kaplan’s book Why I’m Like This and the other from Frank McCourt’s book Teacher Man.

I asked you to make two lists:

  1. A list of what makes the two samples “good” memoir.
  2. A list of moments in your life you might try to write about in your own memoir (coming up next in Task 3).
