We didn’t get past LFA today…and it’s a good thing, because I put up the journal prompts for the wrong chapters yesterday.
I’m so sorry!
I will not hold anyone accountable for this except myself. In my rush to get the prompts up, I took the ones for the new reading assignment rather than the current one.
To solve the problem, we’re going to flip-flop the discussion and reading day (10/3 and 10/4 on the calendar). TOMORROW will be a reading day. We’ll talk about all of the Foster Chapters from last week AND this week (1, 5, 9, 10, 18) on Thursday.
Journal prompts for 10 and 18:
Foster Ch 10: Discuss the importance of weather in OMM or LFA.
Foster Ch 18: Use the “baptism scene” from the beginning of LFA, when the Weekday Warriors haze Pudge. How was Pudge different after the experience? Discuss. In particular, think about the baptism scene in light of Miles’ final essay at the end of the book. He writes “I thought for a long time the way out of the labyrinth was to pretend that it did not exist…but that only led to a lonely life accompanied only by the last words of the already-dead, so I came here looking for a Great Perhaps, for real friends and a more-than-minor life.” How did Miles’s baptism usher him into that new life?
