10H – 2 April 2014 – Midsummer Reading Day

Today we’ll briefly talk about a few things:

  1. Motifs in Shakespeare – used to set the mood/scene as much as to point to theme/symbol.
  2. Don’t get lost in the flowery language! Focus on what’s being said and how people respond.

Then you’ll start reading. In your journal, please write about this prompt:

Act I takes place in the daytime, but contains images of moon/night/dreams that foreshadow what’s to come. In your journal, identify some examples of moon/night/dream imagery, and then write about what moods/ideas are associated with thie imagery and how you know what those moods/ideas are.
