Today is a writing day, as usual for a Monday. Tomorrow you’ll start a unit with Ms. Bjelland on ANTIGONE.
Today we”ll start with a quick mini-lesson on two issues.
- Choosing good evidence. Lots of folks are struggling with analysis, but not because they don’t know how to analyze. It’s because they don’t know how to choose good evidence. If your evidence just says the same thing your main points say, there’s nothing to analyze. We’ll use this example to talk about what makes a great piece of evidence.
- BUILDING up your conclusion. Folks who are in the drafting phase don’t really know how to make an argument of their SO WHAT in that last paragraph. We’ll look at an example together (below) and talk about what makes a SO WHAT conclusion different than just restating your main points.
