Today we’ll read excerpts from Dear Boy by Heather Weber and Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. These are non-traditional memoirs in that one is written as letters and the other in poetry.
Once we’ve read the excerpts, I’d like you to write a lab book entry responding to this prompt:
How does writing/reading a memoir change when the form changes? What works BETTER in a poem? In a letter? What doesn’t work as well in a poem? In a letter?
Reminder that your first draft of your memoir is due by midnight on Monday (Nov 30).
